Upcoming Events in Myrtle Beach 2022

The crowds may be dwindling as the summer comes to a close, but the fun doesn’t stop in Myrtle Beach. There are plenty of exciting events and fall festivals to keep your group entertained for the rest of the year. Here are upcoming events to add to your calendar if you’re planning to visit the beach from August to October:

Summer Light: Art By Night

When: Wednesday, August 3; Saturday, August 6; Wednesday, August 10; Saturday, August 13, 2022

Where: Brookgreen Gardens

As the sun sets, the gardens of Brookgreen gardens come to life with twinkling lights. Ten lighting installations, 800 upcycled chandeliers, and 900 bottle alcoves will create a whole new experience for you as you meander through Oak Allee and Beyond the Garden Wall. There will be beverages and food served and music being performed by a live band nightly.

Brookgreen Gardens Labor Day 5k

Kick off the long weekend with a run through the beautiful sculpture gardens of Brookgreen Gardens. Run for fun or try to achieve a new personal running time record. And if you place, you’ll be awarded a Made in the USA medal.

54th Annual World Championship Chili Cook-off

When: Friday-Sunday, September 23-25, 2022

Where: Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place

Summer may be coming to an end, but things are heating up at the World Championship Chili Cook-off. General admission will be free, but you will be able to purchase tasting tickets to sample as many chilis as you like. When you participate in the People’s Choice Judging, your vote counts. Taste any five of the competition teams’ chili and vote for your favorite one. If you’re interested in learning how to cook an award-winning chili, there will be various cooking classes, including ones for the kids. The event will feature a fun zone with competitive food games and volleyball tournaments. Cool off your tastebuds with a craft beer at the beer garden and enjoy live entertainment all weekend long.

Little River Shrimpfest

When: Saturday-Sunday, October 8-9, 2022

Where: Little River Waterfront

When you visit the beach you expect the freshest seafood and that is just what this festival celebrates. When you attend the Little River Shrimpfest you will find plenty of vendors, a kid’s area, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and plenty of fun.

St. John’s Greek Festival

When: Thursday-Sunday, October 13-16, 2022

Where: St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church

The St. John’s Greek Festival celebrates all things Greek culture. At this four-day festival, you’ll be able to experience lots of delicious Greek delicacies and pastries, arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, and much more.

Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon

When: Saturday-Sunday, October 15-16, 2022

Where: Market Common and Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

Lace-up your running shoes and get ready for an active weekend. This event kicks off Saturday morning at 7:30 am with a Coastal 5K or GoRuck 5K at the Market Common, followed by a Doggie Dash starting at 8:45 am. The event finishes on Sunday with a Mini Marathon starting and ending at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. The course features 5 miles of oceanfront running and ends with an after-party by the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel.

Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam

When: Friday-Sunday, October 28-30, 2022

Where: Former Myrtle Square Mall

Calling all Jeep lovers, this event is right up your alley! The 5th annual Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam brings Jeep enthusiasts from all over the country for a weekend of obstacle courses, car shows, and beach crawls.

BooFest! at Barefoot Landing

When: Saturday, October 29, 2022

Where: Barefoot Landing

Boofest! at Barefoot Landing is a seasonal event that is fun for all ages. There will be a costume contest for babies through children 12 years of age, and one for pets as well. A DJ Dance Party will take place for the kids and stilt walkers will be making their way around the shopping plaza. Bring a chair and stick around for a free showing of ‘Hocus Pocus’ at 7 pm at the Dockside Village Amphitheater Lawn.

Children’s Imagination Walk

When: Saturday, October 29, 2022

Where: Brookgreen Gardens

Dress you and your kids up in your favorite costumes and head over to Brookgreen Gardens for the day. You’ll follow the paths through the gardens for tricks and treats, like trying to spot 10 scarecrows, picking up prizes at the ‘Pumpkin Sites’, and checking out the sculpture demo from 10 am to 2 pm. Don’t forget to grab a scavenger hunt map for extra fun!
